What Is Colour Analysis?
Colour analysis is all about discovering the shades that make you look naturally radiant — the colours that brighten your eyes, smooth your skin, and make you look well‑rested even when you’re not. It’s a bit like finding the perfect lighting, but in clothing form. Most people have experienced that moment where someone says, “You look great today!” and you can’t quite put your finger on why. Spoiler: it’s usually the colour you’re wearing.
The 16 Sub‑Season Method is a modern, more detailed version of the classic “four seasons” approach. It breaks each season down into four sub‑seasons, fine tuning your palette for maximum effect.
Think of it as colour analysis with a finer brush. In the right colours you will always look at your best!
Why Colour Analysis Matters
Colour Analysis is a life long styling tool that boosts confidence, can save you money and makes dressing quicker and easier. It doesn’t require regular top ups or painful injections and the only permenant change is a beautifully curated and cohesive wardrobe!
The right colours can:
Make your skin look smoother
Bring out your natural glow
Make your eyes sparkle
Help you look fresher and more energised
Make outfits feel more “you”
How the 16 Sub‑Season Method Works
During your session, we look at three things:
1. Temperature
Are your natural tones warm (golden, peachy) or cool (rosy, blue‑based)?
2. Depth
Do you shine in lighter colours or deeper, richer ones?
3. Chroma
Do you suit soft, muted shades or clear, bright ones?
Once we know your combination, we can place you into one of the 16 sub‑seasons — a palette that feels like it was made just for you.
Each main season has four variations, each with its own personality:
SPRING – warm, bright/clear, light
Light Spring • Warm Spring • True Spring • Bright Spring
SUMMER – cool, soft/muted, light
Light Summer • Cool Summer • Soft Summer • True Summer
AUTUMN – warm, soft/muted, deep
Soft Autumn • Warm Autumn • Deep Autumn • True Autumn
WINTER – cool, deep, bright/clear
Deep Winter • Cool Winter • True Winter • Bright Winter
Don’t worry — you don’t need to memorise these. That’s what the session is for. I will tell you your colour personality and write it down for you. Having those words in mind whilst shopping helps you to pick out clothes in your colours more easily.
What to expect during your appointment
I will ask you to wear a cape around your shoulders so that we have a neutral base to work from. I may also ask you to wear a head cover if you have coloured hair, as this can distract during the analysis and lead to an inaccurate result.
I will apply some lovely skin care at the start of the appointment to prep for make up application towards the end of the appointment.
I will explain more about colour analysis, where it started and the method I use and ask you some questions about your feelings towards colour as part of your personal style.
I will use coloured drapes to see how different shades affect your complexion. Some colours will make you look bright and awake, while others might wash you out or make imperfections more noticeable. It’s fascinating to watch the difference.
By the end, we’ll know your undertone, depth, and chroma — and your sub‑season.
I will apply make up based on your analysis so that you can elevate the effect further. This can be tailored to your make up wearing preferences.
We will also discuss jewellery and hair colours that complement your season.
You will receive a personalised goodie bag worth £30.
You will receive a purse/wallet swatch card to keep with your palette of colours to help you when shopping and a follow up email with all the information we have discussed as well as discount codes and shoppable links to get you started.
